This park is a majestic, peaceful and historical piece of
land with a good ecosystem to observe many species of plants, trees and
vegetation. There were two ecosystems the hammock and shoreline .There is 2.2
miles of walking trails that covers hundred and 122 acres of land. You could
run write a bike fish swim have a picnic dock boat. There is evidence of Native
American life and shell mound .This Park had plenty of squirrels and birds of
different breeds. If you observed long enough looking in water you can see the
manatees in the dolphins playing. I observe many monarch butterflies and lots
of lizards of different colors .There are several invasive species of plants
and large mangroves habitant red and white. With over 1 mile shoreline the
giant oak trees and a variety of other trees and shrubs makes for a lot of
shade. This park is still with many beautiful canopies of live oak trees with
Spanish moss, lots air potato some cabbage palm, hickory trees.
This park is the oldest park in the county and is the home
of the toboggan Indian mound which is on the register of historical landmarks. There
are many different views of the bay looking out at the water. This park is
named after Odet Philippe who was a grandnephew of King Louis XVI and a medical
officer of Napoleon. This park is beautiful for an afternoon walk to enjoy the
views of the shoreline and trees good piece of mine.
