Cliff Stephans Park

This Thursday we visited Cliff Stephens Park, at 600 Fairwood Avenue in Clearwater. The temperature was about 91 degrees farenheight, and humidity was 60% with light overcast and a steady lakeside breeze of 5-10mph. I had never been to this park before but found it to be a rather enjoyable area, and likely host to many different recreational activities.

Our group began testing at station #2 where we conducted our open field pin flag and quadrat tests. The result are as follows:

0m - Grass
10m - Clovers
20m - Grass
30m - Grass

Quadrat Test
0m - 70% grass, 30% clovers
10m - 5% grass, 15% clovers, 80% weeds
20m - 10% grass, 10% clovers, 80% weeds
30m - 85% grass, 10% leaves, 5% spanish moss

Our soil tests confirmed  a sandy loam, which formed into a ball and was easily manipulated, no ribbon.

At station #3 we conducted our cruz-all and densiometer tests, the results are as follows:

At station # 4 we again checked canopy coverage with the densiometer, as well as the diameter at breast height of 10 different trees to obtain a reasonable test sample, the results are as follows:

At station #1 we cunducted our salinity, PH, illumination, temperature and turbitity test on the lake water, the results are as follows:

Illumination - 504 lux
Temperature - 89.6 F
Turbitity - 1.3
