Swamps are areas of land that are permanently saturated. This park is a freshwater swamp. This makes a good habitat for many animals like Alligators and frogs that are used to fluctuating water levels. The root systems of trees and cypress knots provide a good sanctuary for nesting birds as well as fish and amphibians. I would visit this park because it is very big and offers a lot of variation of life and places to explore. It also has a very nice viewing area.

Trip #8 Sawgrass Park
On October 22nd 2015 we visited Sawgrass Lake Park. The park is located in St. Petersburg, FL. The park is 400 acres and one of the largest maple swamps on the gulf coast. The sky is clear and it is 84 degrees outside. The first thing I notice as I walk threw the park is Gar fish and Bass. As I continue there is a pretty big Soft Shell Turtle and an alligator. There is even an uprooted tree. There is lots of vegetation in this swamp. There are Ferns and and Bald Cypress. Later on in the nature walk we also find a Mother gator with at least over 14 babies.
