Under the Canopy at Cliff Stevens Park
Four!
Station 2, right in the middle of the fairway.
Believe me; disc golf is in!
We laid out 2 transect lines,
dropped a red pin and documented what was there,
along the natural gradient,
while dodging on coming discs.
Curious what we found?
Mostly Grass with a rare appearance by perinea l forb.
Afterwards, using the Quadrant to verify the large abundant of grass,
With just a touch of forb, and a pinch of trash.
Station 3, standing under the canopy after placing the transect line.
This is where we broke out the cruz all!
measures basal area, sizes varied 5, 10, 20.
One was undersized while 8 where classified 10, with five where classified 20.
Then we used a densitometer, yes we did, a homemade one.
It's used to measure canopy cover.
as we performed our test we discovered that all are densimeter readings were?
Positive!
In laymen terms; there was a lot of density in the canopy cover.

At station 4, we ran another 30 m transect line and recorded the
DBH
of the nearest tree.
Yes, the DBH. How did we do it ?
Hugged the trees and then documented there centimeters.
By using the clinometer,
we found that the highest tree in are area was approximate 77 feet.
Back at station 1, located at the pier over the lake.
We checked salinity, turbidity, temperature, and PH.
How you say?
using soil trowels, water testing tools, light sensor and a few classified devices.
We found that the water was saline free, the water was wet, and doing this as a team was fun.
Finally,
 Mark and recapture.
This is classified and only can be discussed with Hillary's permission.
The most important thing learned.
If we do this again where a helmet,
Discs hurt!
and
that ecological sampling is important as it is
Impossible to measure the whole.
Cliff Stephens Park. Only if you like disc golf.
